Conclusions
-
1.
At the same ratio of the added base to the metal (ϰ = 1.9) the composition of the polynuclear complexes and the ratio between them strongly depend on the Al(III) aquo ion concentration in the initial solution.
-
2.
In specimens with an Al(III) concentration of 0.1–0.4 mole/liter the bulk of the aluminum is contained in a polynuclear hydroxo complex of Al13 of the composition Al13O4-(OH)24(H2O) 7+12
-
3.
In concentrated solutions (≥1 mole/liter) an Al13 hydroxo complex is not formed and 80–90% of the aluminum is combined in polynuclear complexes corresponding in properties to sol particles.
-
4.
Polynuclear complexes of Al13 and Alq can coexist in solutions for a long time.
