On the observation of long-period waves with quartz extensometers

  • Published:
pure and applied geophysics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The paper analyses the long period seismic oscillations recorded by quartz extensometers. The similarity of the trains of long period seismic surface waves registered by extensometers and by seismographs is established. The attenuation coefficient is determined for periods up to 700 sec for the Rayleigh and Love waves multirunning around the Earth's globe.
