1.
A survey of data upon the mean pore sizes of porous beds of spherical particles and porous metals produced from such particles has shown that, at porosities ranging from 0.2 to 0.45, Eq. (1) can be employed for mean pore size calculations.

2.
The presence of irregular-shaped particles in a powder charge results, at any given porosity of the material, in the mean pore size being less than that of porous materials made from spherical particles.
