Conclusions
Use of containers (boats) with liquid seals for sintering powder metallurgical materials makes it possible:
-
a)
to dispense with the drying of special circulating atmospheres;
-
b)
to simplify the construction of furnaces and increase their output;
-
c)
to lower substantially heat losses, which are 78% higher for furnaces with a protective atmossphere (for example, hydrogen) than for furnaces with an uncontrolled atmosphere [15]:
-
d)
to generate within the container any gaseous environment necessary for the removal of oxide films or for combining the sintering process with chemicothermal treatment;
-
e)
to establish, when sintering metals having a strong affinity for oxygen, a low pressure in a hermetically sealed volume (container) by means of getters.
