Abstract

The effect of stagnant liquid lithium on the short-and long-term strength of Cr17Ni10Ti austenitic stainless steel at temperatures of up to 1000° C was studied. Lithium contaminated with controlled quantities of nitrogen and oxygen was used to investigate the influence of these impurities on the mechanical properties of the steel studied. The effect of convection currents of lithium on the long-term strength of Cr18Ni10Ti steel specimens at 700° C was also investigated. The role of various factors affecting the fracture of this steel was analyzed.
