Abstract
This article describes the results of short- and long-time tensile tests on armco iron specimens at temperatures of up to 800° C in vacuum and in contact with liquid lithium. The causes of the catastrophic reduction in strength and ductility of the specimens are discussed, and the possible ways of protection against the action of lithium are considered.
