Abstract
This study examines the relationship between state mental health authority expenditures and measures of state hospital utilization, while controlling for selected demographic characteristics. Using multiple regression, it was found that higher rates of total mental health expenditures and higher rates of state hospital expenditures are associated with higher rates of average daily inpatient census.
