Leisure activities of learning disabled children as a reflection of their passive life style and prolonged dependency

Abstract

The leisure activities of two groups of children: 20 learning disabled and 20 controls were studied. A specific pattern emerged for the learning disabled children. Their leisure activities were more passive and accompanied by feelings of loneliness as compared to their peers. Their parents played an important part in their free time activities reflecting their prolonged dependency. These results call for leisure education programs aimed not only at helping the children but also as a part of parent training.
