The effective mass and the specific heat of normal liquid3He

Abstract

The behavior of the specific heat of liquid3He as a function of temperature implies a rapid variation of effective mass with energy. Recently a model has been developed for understanding this. In this paper we extend this model to explain the low-temperature (T≦100 mK) specific heat measurements of normal liquid3He by Greywall. We find that the model gives a reasonably accurate description of the data in this temperature range.
