A thermogravimetric investigation of the Fe-Ni-S system from 700 to 900°C

Abstract

A thermogravimetric method employing H2-H2S-Ar gas mixtures was used to measure the thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria of the Fe-Ni-S system. The equilibrium sulfur pressures in the ternary monosulfide phase and an adjacent two-phase region were measured between 700 to 900°C. Isothermal sections at 700, 750, 800, and 850°C are constructed as well as stability diagrams for the same temperatures.
