Eigenmodes expansions in lossy open waveguides (fibres)

Abstract

The properties of the radiation eigenmodes propagating in lossy open waveguides (fibres) are examined by theŜ-operator method. The radiation eigenmode fields are demonstrated to be transversely unbounded at infinity. For these modes the orthogonal relationships are derived by regularization of divergent integrals.
