Abstract
Mössbauer effect measurements on the intermetallic compounds U(Fe x Al1−x )2 in the paramagnetic state showed two overlapping subspectra. The spectra were successfully analysed according to the statistical distribution of nearest neighbours to iron. This led to the presence of a singlet and a quadrupole doublet with a distinctly negative isomer shift. The results were qualitatively interpreted in view of charge transfers, ands andd electronic densities at the iron nuclei.
