A review of the behavior of aluminide-coated superalloys

  • Published:
Oxidation of Metals Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

A review of the literature is made regarding the oxidation and hot-corrosion resistance and general behavior of superalloy coatings. Although coating procedures and testing are reviewed, the effect of the coating or coating cycle on mechanical properties and environmental stability is emphasized. Electron microprobe, metallography, and X-ray diffraction phase analyses are discussed in relation to proposed failure mechanisms.
