Summary
Light- and electronmicroscopical investigations of cutaneous lepromatous leprosy in a greek female aged 41 indicate, that the foam-structure of Virchow-cells might be caused by three different types of vacuoles: 1. lipid containing vacuoles; 2. heterophagic vacuoles with more or less destructed bacteria and lipid; 3. glycogen containing vacuoles. In Lepra cells the bacteria lie either free in the cytoplasm or within a vacuole separated by a membrane from the cytoplasm. Within endothelial cells of small blood vessels the bacteria always occur free in the cytoplasm.
Zusammenfassung
Die Ergebnisse einer licht- und elektronenmikroskopischen Studie der Lepra lepromatosa einer 41 jährigen Patientin lassen darauf schließen, daß die Schaumstrukturen der Virchowschen Leprazelle auf 3 verschiedene Vacuolenarten zurückzuführen sind, auf lipidhaltige, auf heterophage und auf glykogenhaltige. Die Leprabakterien werden meist vom Cytoplasma der Leprazelle durch eine Membran getrennt, sie können jedoch auch frei im Cytoplasma liegen. In den Endothelzellen kleiner Blutgefäße treten die Leprabakterien ausschließlich frei im Cytoplasma auf.
