Summary
A new method for the qualitative and quantitative gas-chromatographic determination of commonly used propellants in aerosol packs (chlorofluorocarbons 11, 12, and 114, octafluorocyclobutane, vinylchloride, propane, butane, iso-butane, and carbon dioxide) is described. The complete separation of a mixture with all these propellants is possible on columns packed with Porapak-S at a temperature of 165° C. The retention indices after Kovats obtained under these conditions are given. Under the same conditions the solvents, which are commonly used in aerosol packs, are well separated.
