Zusammenfassung

Es wird über die Induktion von Mammatumoren bei Wistar- und Sprague-Dawley-Ratten durch orale Gaben von Dimethylbenzanthracen berichtet. Dieser Kohlenwasserstoff ist dem Methylcholanthren bei beiden Stämmen zur Erzeugung von Mammatumoren deutlich überlegen. Eine wesentlich schwächere Reaktion der Wistar-Ratten ist auch bei dieser Substanz zu verzeichnen.

Summary

A report is made of the induction of mammary tumors in Wistar and Sprague-Dawley rats by oral doses of di-methyl-benzanthracene. In both strains of animals this hydrocarbon proved superior to methylcholanthrene for inducing mammary tumors. The Wistar rats, however, react substantially less to both these substances.
