Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
The relation of the activities of phosphoglycerate mutase, pyruvate kinase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase und glutathione reductase of cord blood erythrocytes to those of erythrocytes of infants, children and adults is 2:2:2,6:1,3.
-
2.
The activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and glutathione reductase decrease within 4 months to the activities of older children. The activities of the glycolytic enzymes decrease to the levels of adults within 8–10 months.
-
3.
The enzymes of cord blood erythrocytes are more instable than those of adult erythrocytes.
-
4.
The different decline of the activities and the different qualities of the enzymes from cord blood erythrocytes demonstrate their position as „fetal cells”. The decrease of the enzyme activities in the first year of life cannot be explained by the postnatal elimination of those cells which exist at birth or by the high number of young erythrocytes in cord blood. It ist regulated by mechanisms, unknown till now.
