Summary
A spectrochemical method for the determination of trace elements in iron and steel has been worked out. After eliminating the iron by extraction with isobutylmethyl ketone the determination of the elements Al, As, Pb, Bi and Ag is possible in the smallest concentration range. The suitability of ion exchanges for separation and enrichment has been shown by the determination of lead in cast iron. The spectrochemical analysis has been carried out by the spray procedure with application of a perforated electrode and spark excitation, using In as an internal standard.
