Summary
A method for the determination of elementary sulphur in paper and cellulose fibers is based on its reduction to hydrogen sulphide by means of N-(4,4′-dimethoxybenzohydrilidene)benzylamine. The hydrogen sulphide is absorbed in zinc acetate solution and determined as methylene blue. 5 × 10−6 g of sulphur could be quantitatively determined in 0.5 g of paper.
