Abstract

The symptoms of two children with erythromelalgia were relieved promptly by the intravenous administration of sodium nitroprusside (1–5 μg/kg/min). The elevated blood pressure of one of them was also easily controlled with this drug and did not recur during the follow-up period. Taken together with our previous experience, we believe sodium nitroprusside administration to be a treatment of choice for erythromelalgia, in which the constant pain and burning sensation make the patient extremely restless.
