Summary

This is a review of a malignant tumour which Bodian called “embryonal sarcoma” and which is also found in the literature under the names of (embryonal) rhabdomyosarcoma and sarcoma botryoides.

Eight personal observations of this tumour during a period of 14 years are recorded. In five of our patients, the tumour was located in the area of the head, in one, in the bile ducts, and in two, in the area of the sinus urogenitalis. Results of treatment do not appear quite as unfavourable as often indicated in the literature.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird eine Übersicht über eine Geschwulstart gegeben, die Bodian das embyonale Sarkom nannte und die in der Literatur auch unter der Bezeichnung (embryonales) Rhabdomyosarkom und Sarcoma botryoides beschrieben wird.

Acht eigene Beobachtungen dieses Tumors in einem Zeitraum von 14 Jahren werden angeführt. Bei 5 unserer Patienten war das e. S. im Kopfbereich, bei einem im Gallenwegsbereich und bei 2 im Bereich des Sinus urogenitalis lokalisiert. Die therapeutischen Ergebnisse erscheinen nicht ganz so ungünstig, wie meist in der Literatur angegeben.
