Summary

This paper presents an analysis of 15 cases of myositis ossificans traumatica situated in the region of the thigh. In practically all cases the disease was caused by a contusion. In early stages the differential diagnosis towards the osteogenic sarcoma is problematic. Myositis ossificans traumatica was found to have three typical ways of progress. The therapy has to be adapted to the stage of the disease. Massage as a form of treatment is certainly wrong. 2 cases which have been operated on are described.

Zusammenfassung

15 Fälle von Myositis ossificans traumatica im Bereich des Oberschenkels werden analysiert. In praktisch allen Fällen war ein stumpfes Trauma die auslösende Ursache. Die Erkrankung, deren Abgrenzung in den sehr frühen Stadien gegenüber dem osteogenen Sarkom problematisch ist, hat drei typische Verlaufsformen. Die Therapie muß dem Stadium der Erkrankung angepaßt sein. Auf jeden Fall ist eine passive Irritation der betroffenen Bezirke durch Massage zu unterlassen. 2 operierte Fälle werden beschrieben.
