Summary
Residual valgus deformity and overgrowth was found in 4 children out of 6 with proximal tibial metaphyseal fractures. Primary reduction of this minimally displaced fracture under general anaesthesia is advised. In case of an irreducable fracture open revision is suggested. In case of an established valgus of more then 20° a tibial wedge osteotomy is necessary. Recurrence of the deformity is very common especially in young children.
Zusammenfassung
Anhand von 6 proximalen querverlaufenden metaphysären Tibiafrakturen ohne Epiphysenbeteiligung wird die Entstehung des posttraumatischen Genu valgum diskutiert. Wir befürworten bei solchen Frakturen primär die Narkosereposition und bei Interpositionsverdacht die offene Revision. Bei etabliertem Genu valgum ist die Rezidiv-Gefahr besonders bei kleinen Kindern sehr groß.
