Zusammenfassung
Es wird ein neues Oximeter beschrieben, das für Messungen der Sauerstoff-Sättigung des Blutes im Ohr und in Durchströmungscuvetten bestimmt ist.
Die Anordnung unterscheidet sich von den bekannten Geräten durch folgende Eigenschaften:

Lineare Anzeige der Sauerstoff-Sättigung, was durch Messung der Leerlaufspannung von Selen-Photoelementen ermöglicht wird, die, wie die Sättigung, dem Logarithmus der Lichtintensität proportional ist.

Individuelle Eichung in jeder Unterschung ohne Blutentnahme. Die Anordnung enthält eine hydraulisch betätigte Kompressionsvorrichtung, die den Abfall der O2-Sättigung im occludierten Gewebsbezirk zu messen gestattet. Der Endwert betrug an 16 Versuchspersonen 40,3 (mittlerer Fehler ±8,8)% Sättigung und wird mit dem bei Sauerstoff-Atmung erreichten 100%-Wert für die Eichung verwendet.
Durch 73 van Slyke-Analysen wurde die Genauigkeit der Methode geprüft. Der mittlere Fehler betrug bei 90% Sättigung ±2,9, bei 75% Sättigung ±4,4 und bei 50% Sättigung ±7,7 Sättigungs-Prozente.
