Die Isolierung von zwei Stämmen des Symbioten von Lasioderma serricorne F. wird beschrieben.

Der Symbiont ist vitaminautotroph.

Bei Belichtung wird ein roter Farbstoff gebildet. Hierzu ist Sauerstoff und Blau-bzw. langwelliges UV-Licht erforderlich.

Die Farbstoffbildung wird durch die Art der N-Quellen beeinflußt.

Der Symbiont von Lasioderma ist mit dem von Sitodrepa panicea serologisch verwandt.

Der Organismus wird als Symbiotaphrina kochii nov. spec. beschrieben.
