Abstract
Sorites orbiculus (Ehrenberg), S. orbitolitoides (Hofker) and Amphisorus hemprichii (Ehrenberg) harbor dinophyceans similar to, but not identical with, Symbiodinium microadriaticum. The symbionts, which bear shortened flagella, are concentrated beneath the well-lit, lateral test wall. They are able to change position actively within the lacunary system of the host cell.
