The calcaneal nutrient foramen: A useful sign in the differentiation of true from simulated cysts

Abstract

Visualization of the nutrient foramen of the calcaneus is a useful differential sign which indicates that the area of triangular radiolucency, seen in the mid-portion of the calcaneus, represents a normal variant (simulated cyst), rather than a true solitary cyst of the calcaneus.
