Abstract

A new device for culturing marine planktonic organisms, the “planktonkreisel”, is described. It consists of a round glass vessel, a central column facilitating a continuous rotating water current via a jet outlet and an inside sand filter. Its usefulness is documented on the grounds of successful culture and rearing experiments on ctenophores, a chaetognath and meroplanktonic organisms.
