Zusammenfassung
In Vestopal W eingebettete Spinalganglien der Ratte sind elektronenmikroskopisch untersucht worden. Der Feinbau der Ganglienzellen wird beschrieben, um die Beziehungen zwischen einigen Begriffen der klassischen Neurohistologie und der elektronenmikroskopischen Cytologie zu klären. Eine Trennung von Endoplasma und Ektoplasma der Ganglienzelle kann nicht aufrecht erhalten werden. Es wird gezeigt, daß die Nissl-Schollen aus vier morphologischen Komponenten bestehen. Der Ausdruck Nissl-Substanz muß daher aufgegeben werden.

In den Nissl-Schollen wechseln dünne Schichten von cytoplasmatischer Matrix (Grundcytoplasma).

das Grundcytoplasma enthält keine dichten Körnchen mit flachen Cysternen des endoplasmatischen Reticulums (e.R.).

Das e. R. bildet außerdem die äußere Kernmembran, so daß der Kern nicht im Grundcytoplasma liegt, sondern in der durch die Membranen des e.R. eingeschlossenen Mischphase.
In der Golgi-Zone liegen durch Membranen begrenzte vesiculae und sacculi in körnchenfreiem Grundplasma. Mitochondrien finden sich teils in der Nähe von Nissl-Schollen, teils in anderen Bezirken des Grundplasmas verstreut. Zwei Arten von Pigmentkörnchen werden beschrieben.
Bündel von Neurofilamenten -„Neurofibrillen“- verlaufen zwischen Nissl-Schollen, Golgi-Zonen und Mitochondrien. Sie bilden den Hauptanteil der cytoplasmatischen Komponenten an der Stelle des Axonaustritts. Die Neurofilamente beschränken sich stets auf das Neuron.
