Summary

Monoiodomethane sulfonate (Kontrast-U®) causes changes typical of adhesive arachnoiditis in the lumbar subarachnoid region. The changes are subtle but clearly evident. The same type of changes can be caused by operation and it seems likely that operation in combination with the use of a contrast medium give rise to more extensive changes.

Résumé

Le sulfonate de monoiodométhane (Kontrast-U) provoque des altérations caractéristiques d'arachnoïdite adhésive dans la région lombaire sous-arachnoïdienne. Les modifications sont subtiles mais précises. Le même type d'alteration peut être provoqué par l'intervention chirurgicale et il semble que l'association de l'intervention et de l'utilisation d'un produit de contraste donne lieu à des modifications plus importantes.

Zusammenfassung

Bei der lumbalen Myelographie mit Kontrast-U kommt es zu typischen Veränderungen im Sinne einer adhäsiven Arachnoiditis. Dieselben Veränderungen können durch eine Operation hervorgerufen werden. Es scheint, daß die Kombination: Kontrastmittel-Untersuchung und Operation stärkere Veränderungen hervorruft.
