Characterisation of a promoter from Methylomonas clara

  • Published:
Molecular and General Genetics MGG Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

This presentation describes the characterisation of a transcriptional start site on a cryptic plasmid from Methylomonas clara. Cloning and sequencing of a DNA fragment which displayed strong transcriptional activity revealed the presence of two overlapping and divergent promoters. Only one of these promoters, the start site of which has been characterised by primer extension methods, is active in vivo both in M. clara and in Escherichia coli.
