Summary

A new method for the preparation of an 8-hydroxyquinoline-and an 8-hydroxy-5-sulphonic-acid quinoline silica gel is described. The synthesized chelating silica gels are studied by DRIFT-spectroscopy and investigated for the sorption of copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II). The molar coverage is determined by elemental analysis and by the development of a molecular coating model.
