Summary

β-Galactosidase hydrolyses naphthol AS-BI β-galactopyranoside in a variety of rat and mouse organs using freeze-dried cryostate sections, hexazonium-p-rosaniline for simultaneous coupling and long time incubation. In comparison with the indolyl and naphthyl derivate the splitting rate of the naphthol AS compound is far lower.
