Abstract
We present a statistical analysis of local Doppler shifts measured in the line λ6302.5 of Fe i. The main results are:
-
(1)
If the oscillatory component is separated from the fluctuations of velocity, a granular rms velocity of about 200 m s−1 is left over, which is strongly influenced by seeing.
-
(2)
The results of the correlation analysis between brigthness and velocity fluctuations reveals variations of granular structure with height in the photosphere.
-
(3)
The granular velocities decrease with height in the photosphere, in agreement with inhomogeneous photospheric models.
-
(4)
The average power spectra of brightness and velocity fluctuations show peaks at spatial wave-lengths of 3″.8, 2″.7, 1″.9 and 1″.3. A regularity in these values is pointed out.
