Interferometric imaging: A numerical simulation

Abstract

Non-redundant arrays offer the possibility of reconstructing optical solar images to the diffraction limit of resolution, with minimal data processing. A particular algorithm, due to W. T. Rhodes, for the analysis of the fringes produced by a set of non-redundant arrays, has been evaluated numerically. The algorithm can give satisfactory results with S/N ∼ 100, but can also break down at moments of unfavorable seeing.
