Effect of ethanol on the fructose transport system of Kluyveromyces fragilis

Summary

Ethanol inhibited in a non-competitive way the fructose transport system of Kluyveromyces fragilis (marxianus). Vmax, the transport capacity, decreased exponentially with ethanol concentration. The exponential inhibition constant, 0.75 l/mol, was higher than the one obtained earlier for Saccharoomyces cerevisiae.
