Abstract

The whole world is going in the direction of inexhaustible sources of energy because the consumption of energy is rising every day and non-renewable sources are depleting. Among the various inexhaustible energy sources present, solar power is the primary source of energy and presents a wide range of advantages over other energy sources. Solar PV Energy is an environment friendly energy source and is abundantly available. On the other hand, the electric vehicle (EV) has a huge potential to mitigate the environmental challenges posed by the conventional-fuel based vehicles. EVs are energy efficient, thus, significantly reduce the environmental pollution and dependency on conventional sources of energy. Range anxiety is a major cause of lower penetration of (EVs) and thus focus on the design of efficient EV charging stations is crucial. However, the stress on the conventional power grid would increase significantly with higher penetration of EVs on roads. Hence, on-site renewable sources of energy like solar photovoltaic along with grid energy can boost the performance of EV charging stations. In this paper, the comprehensive literature review of grid-connected electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) powered by solar energy and the techniques to mitigate various power quality issues that occur during charging of electric vehicles has been done.
