Abstract

Nano cutting fluids are the blend of normal cutting fluid and different nanoparticles. Supplement of the nanoparticles in normal cutting fluids can enhance anti-friction and heat withdrawal properties in cutting zone. This paper gives a review of a number of significant research works that have been published on performance of nanofluids in various machining processes. For reducing machining time, power and cost in various machining operations nano cutting fluids are playing a major role. It is explained in several parts just as cutting force, surface roughness and tool wear. Several type of nanofluids is reviewed in this paper with result on cutting force, surface roughness and tool wear. Nanofluid play significant role in the reducing wear rate of the cutting tool and grow the cutting tool life. Nanofluid creates artificial layer on crown of the workpiece and this helps to reduce cutting forces. It proves that nanofluids can be the efficient cutting fluid in machining process. At the end the study presents a roadmap for the practitioners and researchers during the use of nano cutting fluids in various metal cutting operations.
