Advanced Removal Techniques for Dye-containing Wastewaters

Abstract

The presence of dye molecules in water has become a significant concern in many regions around the world. Given dye toxicity for livings and their adverse effects in water bodies (such as oxygen depletion), many attempts have been taken for their elimination. Up to now, various kinds of physical, chemical, and biological remediation techniques have been suggested. The utilization of porous nano-based porous materials is known as a promising removal method. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have demonstrated great performance in water and wastewater depollution. In the current chapter, the application of magnetic MOFs for the elimination of methylene blue, malachite green, and Congo red is discussed. The findings of studies and the related adsorption capacity are stated in this work.
