Abstract

Many researchers would, I imagine, be tussling with the question of whether the personal experience they are having as they progress through their study should be spoken of when they craft their final research product. It is a question we must resolve in a way that aligns best with our intentions, our aspirations, and our consciences. My own experience in the doctoral research I am undertaking is that I am on a journey of learning that has, thus far, been humbling, progressively restorative, and bumpy—very bumpy at places. I have come to fully appreciate what a colleague said to me when I first joined a doctoral study cohort group in 2005.
