Abstract

Since alfalfa is a perennial crop, harvesting, winter injury and insect pests and parasitic nematodes can cause repeated wounds, through which several pathogens can gain access. Diseases caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kühn reduce its stand, yield, forage quality and persistence of alfalfa, and will also lessen its resistance to environmental stresses and its ability to utilize water and nutrients.
