Abstract
Tay—Sachs disease is a rare but invariably fatal malady affecting babies. It is transmitted as an autosomal recessive condition and ‘screening’ in the sense used here, involves finding the healthy carriers in order to give them a chance to avoid having children who will suffer the disease itself.
