Formulations and Persistence of Bacillus sphaericus in Culex quinquefasciatus Larval Sites in Tropical Africa

  • Chapter
Bacterial Control of Mosquitoes & Black Flies

Abstract

Although chemical insecticides are commonly used in public health programs (Mouchet 1980), they present a number of difficulties, such as the resistance of vectors to these compounds, the environmental pollution, or even the cost of the application. Therefore, it becomes necessary to conduct constant research on new substitute insecticides and to select the best formulations suited to the various constraints imposed by the vector control program.
