Abstract
The Caspian Sea region is exceptionally rich in natural resources — biological, agroclimatic, balneological, and recreational, and the aggregate of such resources makes this region favorable for human settlements and for agricultural and industrial production. Under conditions of a stable political situation, the economies of the region could, in the near future, enhance their development prospects. Oil and gas deposits are the region’s main mineral resources. There are nearly thirty deposits now explored in the coastal zone of all the littoral states and directly in the sea, in addition to those already developed. In any event, the national wealth of the states in the Caspian region will likely increase rapidly with the exploitation of its known natural resources.
