Abstract

The accuracy of the models of radiatively driven stellar winds can be checked by comparing predicted line profiles with the observed ones. A few years ago Martin Groenewegen and I have started a project to analyse the lineprofiles of UV wind lines of C III (λ 1175.66), C IV (A 1548.19 and 1550.76), N IV (A 1718.55), N V (A 1238.81 and 1242.80) and Si IV (A 1393.76 and 1402.77) observed in the high resolution spectra of 26 O-type stars and one B-supergiant. The observations are taken from the IUE atlas of Walborn et al. (1985).
