Abstract

This paper describes a multivariate geostatistical approach for analysing the space-time behavior of properties from data which are dense in space and scarce in time. The T sampled times are considered as T coregionalized variables which are decomposed, using Factorial Kriging Analysis, into spatial components associated with different spatial scales. The temporal behavior of the property of interest is then studied for each of the identified spatial scales. Linear combinations of the spatial components, called regionalized factors, are cokriged and mapped to display the permanent and temporary features for a given spatial scale. The method is illustrated with a study of the space-time behavior of calcium, chloride and nitrate contents in spring-waters originating from the Dyle watershed (Belgium).
