Abstract
In Chapter 1 of this volume, Harding, Asher and Yates describe the methods that have been used to obtain information on changes in the distribution and abundance of British butterflies. In this chapter we use data mainly from the two major schemes, the Lepidoptera Recording Scheme (LRS) and the Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (BMS), to highlight the contrasting fortunes of two groups of butterflies.
