Abstract
Previous work with delphinium in culture has indicated that there is significant depletion of minerals in the growing media during the course of a 28 day subculture period [2]. This raises the question of whether the decline in mineral nutrients affects the growth of the plants. If at some point in the subculture period the mineral nutrient availability to the plants becomes growth limiting then it may be possible to adjust the quantity or combination of minerals being supplied in the media to alleviate the problem and thus improve the growth rate or quality of the plants, or even extend the subculture period.
