Abstract
Pests may be important constraints to fruit production and quality in all systems of banana cultivation. Because bananas are grown as perennial crops, control techniques based on rotation are often inappropriate. For this reason the management of many of the pests described in this chapter is quite difficult particularly for resource-poor farmers who may not have the option of using chemical treatments.
