Abstract

Two airglow experiments were carried by the OGO 4 and OGO 6 satellites launched on 27 July, 1967, and 5 June, 1969, respectively. The observations cover a period of maximum solar activity and show latitude and longitude effects in the low latitude nightglow 6300 Å emission. The purpose of this paper is to present an interpretation of the main features of the nightglow 6300 Å morphology in tropical regions in terms of the thermospheric dynamics.
